January 2022: More Boom, the Southern Idaho Ag Show, and Unique Twin Falls Advertising.
Hello again Twin Falls, and Happy New Year!
I recently heard about an alternative to the New Year’s Resolution, called the Past Year Review. Popularized by Tim Ferriss, the thought is that reflecting can often be a bigger motivator than creating a resolution and, like most people, battle to make it stick
I viewed it as a fun wrinkle to a classic tradition - and certainly thought the Magic Valley has tons to reflect on.
Whichever method you choose, we at Iliad Media Group wish for your 2022 to be better than 2021, and the same goes for the Valley as a whole.
Let’s recap some see end-of-year stats, events, and some beginning-of-year excitement!
Idaho Leads the Nation in Population Growth
We all see signs of the mega-boom left and right, but many of us may be surprised that Idaho topped all fifty states in population growth from 2020 to 2021. ALL, yes, as in 50! The 2.9% growth meant 53,000 people opted to call the Gem State home, which is particularly astounding given that the nationwide population only grew 0.1%, the lowest in American history. It will be fascinating - yet hardly surprising - to see if a 3% increase over the next year occurs.
Idaho Food Bank and True West Beef Keep Magic Valley Families Full
In the spirit of giving, True West Beef teamed up with the Idaho Food Bank for the Beef Counts program. Meat was provided to over 500 families in need across the valley.
Twin Falls Gears Up for Southern Idaho Ag Show
What was long known as KMVT-TV’s “Agri-Action” will now be the Southern Idaho Ag Show, and you can enjoy all its entertainment February 3-5 at the College of Southern Idaho Expo Center in Twin Falls. Produced by Iliad Media Group and 102.1 The Bull, tickets are just $2 for kids, $3 for adults, and $6 for the whole family! Also, a canned food donation will take $1 off your ticket. Hours to enjoy all the agricultural fun are 10-6 Thursday and Friday, and 10-4 Saturday.
Twin Falls Public Library’s Free “Ready, Set, Kindergarten”
If you’ve got a little one starting Kindergarten in fall of 2022, the Twin Falls Public Library wants to give you a head start. It starts its Ready, Set, Kindergarten class on Wednesday January 5 from 10:30-11 AM.
Wal-Mart’s Twin Falls Stores to Distribute COVID Medications
Paxlovid and Molnupiravir, say ‘em three times. You probably haven’t heard these names uttered much, but there’s hope they can be real game-changers as the country enters its third year of the pandemic. Available through prescription only, the Walmart Supercenter on Cheney Drive will be distributing them as supply allows.
New Study Highlights One of Many Advantages of Radio Advertising
Inside Radio released an study detailing on the distinct ability of radio to reach women, particularly those working or planning a major purchase. Given the explosion of population, business and radio in the Magic Valley, this type of data could be quite beneficial for local businesses.
Enjoy the above-freezing temperatures Twin, and we’ll see you in February!
