Twin Falls Marketing, Advertising & Business - April 2023

With temperatures rising, what better time to revisit a hit yogurt shop in Twin Falls that’s back open! That’s just one of many noteworthy stories of the past month. We’ll explore radio, a spring local vendor sale, and how financial & lending issues rippled down to the Magic Valley as well (don’t worry, no local banks are failing though). Let’s dive in!

Twin Falls

Lending Company Ordered to Shut Down

If you thought financial problems were just present at multi-billion dollar banks, think again! Velasquez Enterprises, doing business as Cash Now & Auto Sales, as well as Speedy Loans, was told to cease and desist by order of the Twin Falls County Fifth Judicial Court. Evidence showed the businesses had been violating the Idaho Credit Code in its unlicensed payday, title, and short term lending.

Spring Local Vendor Sale Saturday April 1st

What better way to welcome Spring than with a shopping spree, and better yet, one supporting locals! Swing by the Twin Falls Senior Center at 530 Shoshone Street West Saturday, 4/1, between 10 AM - 4PM. You’ll even get a swag bag if you’re one of the first 25 adults! It’s expected that nearly 40 vendors will be present, sporting everything from clothes and baked goods to home decor and jewelry.

Kiwi Loco Returns With New Ownership

After the original owners of self-serve frozen yogurt shop Kiwi Loco put their business up for sale, Sokry Heng and her husband Yip Tse pounced at the opportunity. And why wouldn’t they, with the extreme popularity? Kiwi Loco is back in business, and is now connected to Boba Blast Tea House. If you’ve never been, find them at 828 Blue Lakes Blvd. N. Note they are closed Sundays. Magic Valley Times News had a fantastic interview with Mrs. Heng here.

Radio, Advertising & Business

AM/FM Outpaces Ad-Supported Audio in Major Study

According to Edison Research, listeners aged 25-54 spend more time listening to AM/FM radio streams than to ad-supported streaming audio services. It’s a huge development for radio’s resilience, especially in such a targeted demographic for advertisers.

This study is just a tiny window into Edison’s comprehensive annual study on audio, known as the Share of Ear report. Scroll to the bottom of the above link for complete analysis on the three others.

U.S. 2023 Ad Forecast to Grow at Slightly Slower Pace

The American ad market will still likely reach a record high of $326 billion, but will do so with growth slowing down. Axios reported that a 3.4% growth rate is expected, versus the anticipated 3.7%. It's worth noting that with cyclical events, such as elections or Olympics, the figure is being touted by some as particularly strong. Diversity of platforms and content is a common denominator of advertising’s success, even in the face of a looming recession.

AI Comes to Audio Marketing

Instreamatic may have forged a new chapter in marketing.

The software company upon whom businesses rely for customer insights just launched Contextual Audio Ads, increasing the relevance of an ad for a specific type of customer. “Instreamatic’s Contextual Audios Ads are better at capturing listeners’ attention because they speak precisely to that listener’s context and needs in the moment,” said Instreamatic CEO Stas Tushinskiy. It’s surely a huge step for advertising to achieve their dream of more personalized engagement, and deeper brand awareness.
