Looking for the Best Radio Stations in Boise?

Nielsen just provided them. Better yet, you can advertise on them.

You’ve likely heard some form of a saying that involves separating “the signal from the noise”. It implies the difficulty at times in finding what’s wholly true and genuine - think “Separating the signal from the noise in modern news media”.

There are many radio stations that can use the word “best” in certain contexts because technically, sure, they might be best in one specific demographic, metric, date range, etc. It’s kind of like how every cell company gets away with being able to say they offer the best or widest coverage…because they do in select parts.

But by definition, the “best” radio station can only be one. And that one, can only be anointed by one party - Nielsen.

Well, Nielsen just announced their Spring 2022 ratings for the Boise area. And we are delighted to announce our very own country station 101.9 The Bull topped all others, and frankly, it wasn’t terribly close.

This snapshot isn’t for any ol’ ratings, oh no. It’s for the advertising dreamland: ages 25-54, Monday-Friday, 6AM - 7PM. This demographic features the most ears, and those ears belong to people with money to spend. It’s why agencies love it too.

Iliad Media Group ranked first...second...and heck why not… third. Truthfully, it feels wonderful knowing so many local consumers are hearing about local businesses.

Boise’s Best Country…and the Best Way to Advertise in Boise

Not only did The Bull take the ratings gold medal, it did so with a whopping overall rating (8.3) reached only a handful of times. Yet still, there are numerous other data points illustrating the power of advertising on Iliad Media Group stations:

  • After The Bull’s 8.3 share (share is just the percentage of listeners tuned into a station at a given time), the next most popular music station registered a 4.9…that station happens to also be one of our offerings, My102.7.

  • With 96.1 BobFM clocking in at 4.1, and Wild101 registering a 3.9, Iliad Media Group officially has four of the top eight stations in the Boise area. And, if you remove news and news talk, it’s four out of six.

  • The demographic of Adults 25-54 is widely regarded as the goldmine for advertising. Iliad Media Group stations took each of the top three spots, with Bull, My and BOB respectively.

  • On the whole, Iliad Media Group held a 27.8% Boise market share, good for first among all station-owning companies. Next up was Cumulus Media, based out of Columbus, OH with a 16.3% share.

The Bull’s dominance crossed many parameters, and this particular one is most popular. No, literally.

It’s for ages 12+, weekdays, 6AM - 7 PM. That’s essentially everyone. Beyond The Bull, to have three total stations fill out the top five in the broadest demographic isn’t just cool…it’s bloody difficult. But the hard work is more than worth the payoff ; the deep satisfaction of helping small businesses increase sales.

Local Radio = Local Passion = Local Business

The meaning of these awards isn’t to celebrate us - it’s to celebrate the power of local. The three companies ranking 2nd-4th in share are all based outside of Idaho, and that is A-okay. But for us at Iliad Media Group, being 100% local allows us to better communicate with our audiences. That enhanced communication translates to enhanced opportunities for another demographic we love aside from our listeners - our businesses!

It’s a beautiful cycle, and it only strengthens over time. As Boise grows, so does the yearning for that local, communal spirit, which is where radio shines. We’ve always believed that, but to see it pay off in the wildly successful Nielsen Spring 2022 ratings is simply delightful.

Boise’s booming, we’re booming, and we only exist to make your business boom as well. So if you want to get the word out to consumers who are tuning into the most popular stations in one of the most popular regions in America, we’d love to chat.
