But are they listening?

Radio's resilience, even during a pandemic. Katz Radio Group share’s the new Nielsen data for August 2020.

Short Summary:

  • Radio has almost completely returned to March listening levels (before pandemic)

  • Every listening demographic as returned at least to 95% of those March levels

  • AQH Persons has returned at 90% of March levels for Total Week, 96% of Weekend 

  • Diary Markets (like Boise and Twin Falls) have basically regained their listenership from March levels with 97% of their cume and 100% of their AQH

  • Apple Maps shows a return to the car.  Using January as a baseline, April shows decrease of -39% in car and August shows 41% increase of in car activity

  • Nielsen determines that 69% of Radio listening happens while in the car

Quick Point:

  • Radio is BACK, nationally and has been in Idaho for a few months now

  • More than television, cable, print, outdoor and even digital (non-entertainment, shopping or news excluded), radio has kept it's audience

If you wonder how the pandemic has affected radio, the answer in terms of listenership . . . not much!
